10 Champions that Shouldn’t Be

I made this post over the summer when I had a Blogger but I never posted it on this blog, so…here it is!

Every so often, I like to make lists of topic surrounding the challenges. For this list, I’m choosing the 10 least deserving champions in the history of the challenges (minus the 3 without eliminations). You may disagree, but that’s life!

10. Nehemiah
Challenge won: Gauntlet III

It’s easy to argue that none of the rookies should have won the Gauntlet III, and some are less deserving than others. Nehemiah…AKA Nedermier…AKA Tenderoni wasn’t a great contribution to his team. I guess he took out a couple of people on his team, like Ryan, but that’s not really a huge success. Remember, he lost the buried alive challenge for his team when they had a big advantage. Plus, he didn’t do much for the team in the final challenge.

9. Johanna
Challenge won: Gauntlet III

Another winner from the Gauntlet III, and another Austin kid. The backbone to Johanna’s success what her Austin alliance. She didn’t give to much to her team, but her little quarrel with Brooke give something to the viewers. I guess that’s worth a little money?

8. Danny
Challenge won: Battle of the Seasons

Danny’s biggest strength on Battle of the Seasons was his partner. She was able to carry him when the going got rough. Danny didn’t like heights…or challenges for that matter. At least he’s a nice guy.

7. Katie
Challenge won: The Inferno

I know that Katie has a lot of fans out there, and I’m one of them. But c’mon, she SUCKED on the Inferno. She didn’t want to do any of the missions. She won a grueling Inferno against Julie that included skipping rope and walking on a treadmill, but she couldn’t complete the Inferno without smoking a cig. I think there are challenges where Katie deserved to win, but this was not one of the challenges.

6. Randy
Challenge won: Gauntlet II

It took Brad 8 challenges to win. How many did it take his San Diego roomie Randy? Just 2. Randy wasn’t a stallion on the field, but he was giving team captain a little something on the side. It’s his team’s fault he made it to the final challenge, but the Veteran’s fault he won. Rookie’s luck?

5. Cara
Challenge won: The Gauntlet

Cara with her BFF Susie were great TV. Cara with BF Dave was just whiny. She didn’t perform on the challenge, but managed to survive 2 gauntlets. What does she attribute her spot in the final challenge to? Riding her boyfriend.

4. Dunabr
Challenge won: Cutthroat

Dummy Bear has a reputation on these challenges, and it’s not a great one. He won one Gulag, but it was literally just rolling a die. How his team managed to win the final challenge is still a mystery to me, but I guess some people just get lucky.

3. Carley
Challenge won: Fresh Meat 2

When Landon called Carley’s name, she really lucked out. This piece of meat is not what I think a champion looks like. I guess Landon is strong enough to carry her to the finish line, and that’s exactly what he did.

2. Eric
Challenge won: Battle of the Sexes 2

These challenges are not just physical competition, they’re also social games. I may not be an expert, but befriending a jump rope is not going to help you win. Eric making it to the final mission was really an act of charity. Mark had to voluntarily quit just so the girls would be stuck with Arissa on their team. And of course the boys won…with Eric.

1. Ibis
Challenge won: The Gauntlet II

When I think of Ibis in competition, I think of her stuffing sticks of butter in her face. She was a weak leak with a strong alliance. But she never made any power moves. She just let Kina do the dirty work, and she sailed on by to the final challenge. You win some, you lose some, and Ibis should have lost this one.

What do you think? Did I miss any one? Agree? Disagree?
