Over the years I’ve seen plenty of rookie failures on the challenges, but for every failure there’s a success story. As a diehard viewer of the challenges, here are my tips of how to do well on a challenge.

1. Lay low. If you’re loud and vocal, you’re making yourself a target. While newbies always get voted in early, if you lay low you probably won’t get voted into an elimination round until your loudmouth friend has been shipped home.
2. Be yourself. No one likes a kiss ass. If you have a good personality, don’t be afraid to party it up with the rest of the cast. It’s easier to get rid of someone that’s boring than someone that’s the life of the party.
3. Don’t suck. This may seen obvious, but doing well in the challenges is a must. If you’re not a weak link, you’re less likely to get tossed into an elimination round.
4. Don’t call out the vets. We all know that the challenges are political games. At this point, being a rookie is kind of like being a freshman in high school. People are going to talk down to you and mess around with you. Expect it. You don’t have to respect the game that the veterans play, but your disapproval won’t change it.
5. Try, try again. If you lose your first challenge, it’s no biggie. At this point, it almost always takes a couple of tries to win. If you come back for another challenge people are going to see you evolve and value you as a competitor.
