Many people form alliances on the challenges with their friends. Every so often, those alliances fall through and that person is forced to face his or her best friend in an elimination round. Let’s take a look back at the times when friends had to fight it out to stay in the game.
Sarah is all smiles in this picture, but on The Gauntlet she had to fight against her best friend Rachel to stay in the game. Both of them gave it their all, but Sarah won the elimination round in end and went on to win the entire Gauntlet season.
On the original Inferno Mallory and Christena became friends. The two of them ended up facing each other in an Inferno despite the Road Rules team’s efforts to have Christena win the challenge, win a life shield, and have Katie take her place in the Inferno. Fortunately for Christena, she won in her Inferno against Mallory and went on to win the entire Inferno challenge.
The Austin alliance was no secret on the first Fresh Meat, and the veterans wanted to nip the alliance in the butt by sending Wes and Danny into the first Exile. The vets succeeded and the two BFFs had to face off. Wes and his partner ended up being the victors, and Danny had to leave his fiancee’s side.
Aneesa and Svetlana worked together throughout the entire Duel season, but the two of them were forced to face off in the last Duel of the season. Svetty won that Duel and received a T-Mobile Sidekick II as a prize, which she promptly handed over to Aneesa. Even though she won the Duel, Svetlana went on to lose the final challenge and went home empty handed. Maybe she should have kept her Sidekick?
On the Island, Colie and Johanna became friends. However, they both went into the same faceoff and lost. Because they both lost, the rest of the cast got to vote for one of them to go home. Colie sacrificed herself because she thought Johanna had a better chance of obtaining a key. Turns out she was wrong, and both Colie and Johanna won nothing in the end.
On The Island Evelyn turned her back on her friends and ended up joining Johnny’s boat. She won The Island, but was not proud of betraying her friends. On The Ruins, she found herself in a Ruins against Kellyanne. Sick of being bullied by Johnny and his friends, Ev threw the Ruins so her friend could stay in the game.
On Rivals, Adam maintained that Kenny and Johnny were his friends. Adam found out the hard way that he was disposable when Johnny was willing to send him and CT home in a Jungle. In the end, CT was the only one that truly had Adam’s back.
Now, we just have to wait for the next challenge to see if any friendships are going to be tested in an elimination round.
