There is a lot of unaired Challenge content sitting in the production vault, and it looks like something else may be in the pipeline.
On Thurs., Aug. 10, The Challenge: USA 2 will debut on CBS. We also have All Stars 4 (presumably for Paramount+) and Season 39 coming to MTV, but their release dates have yet to be announced. And, based on information from Gamer, these seasons won’t be airing for a few more months.

From the sounds of it, Season 39 will follow a similar schedule to Ride or Dies, which started in the fall and stopped airing in Q1 of the following year. All Stars 4 won’t debut until near the end of that season’s run or even after it wraps. This means production will have sat on this footage for about a year before it airs.
But, there’s a reason we may need to wait, and it’s because there might be something else in the works. From the sounds of it, production is planning on another spinoff series.

This is just a rumor, but it would make sense. Like other TV networks, ViacomCBS is dealing with the writers’ and actors’ strikes. This means they won’t have a lot of scripted content, but The Challenge is a great way to fill airtime.
If I had to guess, this would be a show to fill time on CBS, with potential to stream on Paramount+, akin to The Challenge USA. But, apparently it’s not USA 3, nor is it an international spinoff.
It also seems unlikely that they’d be filming Season 40 or All Stars 5, but you never know. Perhaps production has a house rented, and they want to squeeze one more season onto the filming location.
But, if it’s a CBS season, there’s a lot of potential. Perhaps they want to entice some celebrities to do a spinoff, or maybe they want to do Big Brother vs. Survivor. But this is all speculation — anything is possible, but it seems like the next few months will be crammed with Challenge content. Just don’t expect to get it all at once. This isn’t a bad thing, but we’ve waited way too long for All Stars 4.
