For the first time, the Challenge didn’t follow Big Brother. Instead, it aired after the new show Buddy Camp. Did that hurt the show’s performance?
Episode 9 averaged 1.43 million viewers and a 0.27 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This is roughly 70,000 viewers lower than last week’s episode, and the rating went down by about 0.05 points.
This is a pretty poor showing, considering Buddy Games averaged 2.01 million viewers with a 0.28 rating — that’s higher than any Challenge episode so far this season. But, this show had the advantage of being in an earlier, more desirable time slot. The 10-11 p.m. time slot tends to draw fewer viewers, and The Challenge was the #1 show in all demos during the 10:30 p.m. block, after the Red Sox vs. Yankees game ended.
