Challenge: Battle For A New Champion

The Challenge Battle for a New Champion: Top Moments from Episode 13

The top moments from episode 13 of Battle for a New Champion

We’re one step closer to the final, but we haven’t lost a contender in weeks.

A Bigger Divide

After being sent into elimination, Colleen and Ravyn are fully aware that Jay and Michele are running the game. So, they’re hoping they can win the next challenge so they can change the direction of the game by working with people like Kyland and Horacio. This divide is putting stress on Olivia. She feels that everyone wanted to work with Horacio early into the game, but now, most people are willing to get rid of him because he’s not talking to anyone else.

What the Truck?

A tanker rolls up, and the cast will be playing Getting Tanked. The game is played in teams of four, and three players will need to get inside the tank and retrieve the letters as the truck zigzags down the road. The third person will need to collect the letters from the swimmers and spell the phrase “Challenge Champion” atop the truck. The first team goes with Kyland, Emanuel, Zara, and Moriah. The three people in the tank collect the letters fairly easily, so it seems like the real race will be retrieving the letters and spelling the winning words. Emanuel does a good job, but then the second team goes, and Horacio spends much more time collecting letters. Most people realize that her teammates, Michele and Asaf, are throwing this challenge to ensure Horacio can be nominated into The Arena. Then, the two final teams go, and Ed collects the letters really quickly. This leads his team to victory.

The Final Strike

The winning team, with Ed, Corey, Olivia, and Berna, now has to send one man into elimination. Horacio and Kyland are worried because they know this team isn’t going to support them. Their only hope is Olivia, but she only has one of the four votes, and she doesn’t put up much of a fight. Ed, Corey, and Berna vote in Horacio, claiming they want to try to take him out before the final because he’s a strong athlete. Kyland calls out Corey for being “scared,” but really, the majority alliance was working to ensure Horacio could be voted into The Arena.

Splitting The Numbers

After the challenge, the goal is to get Kyland as the second Arena nominee. Jay, Corey, Emanuel, and Moriah try to concoct a plan, but the numbers are fairly slim. They depend on Nurys and Colleen voting with the group, but there’s some trouble there. Colleen talks with Jay at the club, and she doesn’t feel like he’s going to offer her any safety in the future, so why help him? Meanwhile, Nurys is upset that Horacio will go to The Arena and she realizes that she’s been a pawn in Jay and Michele’s game. She talks to her allies and explains that Horacio has had power four times, and none of them have been sent to The Arena. Jay says that “doesn’t matter,” and Nurys gets mad at Jay, until Horacio comes over and get Olivia. Then, he assures Olivia that he still has her back, and tells her not to trust Jay.

Keep Your Allies Close

After all the conversations, Jay talks with Kyland and his friends. They know Jay isn’t working with them, and Jay has said their names in the past, so they don’t see the value in keeping him around. Jay insists that he loves this type of game, but everyone can tell he’s a little nervous — including Michele. After that, he tries to clear his name by talking to Nurys and explaining his alliance has more power to protect her, but Horacio and Kyland don’t have the numbers.

Burning the Plan

At the deliberation, the divide is clear, and Jay knows that he and Kyland are on the line. The vote starts with four votes for Jay (from Horacio, Zara, Kyland, and Ravyn), but then it gets to Nurys. She won’t say Kyland’s name or Jay’s name so she burns her vote on Emanuel. This means Colleen doesn’t vote for Jay, and Kyland ends up with the majority of the votes. So, Horacio and Kyland are the Arena nominees.

The Bearded Bandit

The cast gets to The Arena, and TJ brings out a champion who is “no joke”: Brad. At the draw, Brad pulls Kyland’s pole, and the two will be playing What’s Going Down. This means Horacio is off the hook, and while Nurys is happy, a lot of people made a big move, and Horacio didn’t even need to get his hands dirty.

The Next Level

The game has two 5-story towers and there are 10 balls on the bottom. The goal is to move planks, bring the balls to the top, and deposit them down a chute in chronological order. Immediately, Kyland zooms down the platforms, only removing the necessary planks. Brand follows a similar strategy, but he’s moving slower than Kyland. This essentially becomes a 10-lap race, and in the end, Kyland’s speed allows him to secure the win, meaning Kyland has sent home two champions.
