Challenge: Battle For A New Champion Challenge: Ride or Dies

Olivia Confirms She Didn’t Really Know Horacio Prior to Ride or Dies

Olivia breaks down her tough decision and how she got onto The Challenge with a near-stranger.

Following her shocking decision to betray her friends on episode 16, Olivia spoke on her podcast. Gimme the Mic, to discuss her decision.

During her conversation she made a surprising confession: She didn’t really know Horacio prior to Ride or Dies.

Olivia explained that she wasn’t trying to justify the move, but she was trying to give some context. She said that before Ride or Dies, she barely knew Horacio; they just had the same manager. So, when casting calls went out, this manager thought it would be a good idea for the two to work together.

Remember, this duo was an alternate pair, but Olivia and Horacio weren’t the only duo that were paired together by management. Johnny & Ravyn and Kim & Colleen were put together by their managers. The other alternate, Nam, also got his partner Emmy because he wouldn’t provide a true Ride or Die.

Olivia also said that she did develop a friendship with Horacio during Ride or Dies, but it wasn’t a “best friendship,” and it didn’t seem. to carry over onto Battle for a New Champion. This started at the airport when Horacio showed up. He told Olivia he wouldn’t be on the season, and she felt it was odd that she never got any head up. Then, during the earlier part of the game, the two argued and Olivia didn’t know if they were working together.

Meanwhile, she was building a relationship with Jay. She knew she wasn’t Jay’s #1, but she was OK with being his #2 — especially when she didn’t know where Horacio stood.

When the vote happened, Olivia felt really bad for making this move that would screw her friends over, and she begged TJ to let Nurys take her spot in the lineup that would give her safety. She’s not sure why that clip was omitted, giving her a cold edit.

Olivia also says her goal this season was just to finish a final after the way she went out this season. She felt bad for taking the opportunity away from Horacio, but she was surprised he felt so betrayed because he always knew he was going into elimination.

While fans may be sad to see this relationship get torn apart, the friendship we saw was part of a narrative constructed by production. But for Olivia, this was a part of the game — a difficult part, but the relationship with Horacio doesn’t really predate The Challenge.

  1. This whole article sounds like it’s sticking up for Olivia. Must be one of her friends… if she has any left.

    1. Sticking up? Maybe a little. Only because she made a move on a reality show, so it’s not like she did anything terrible in real life. But, it’s also a summary of Olivia’s conversation, so of course she’s not going to shit on herself.
