Challenge: All Stars 4

Why is Kam on the All Stars 4 Cast?

What does the inclusion of Kam mean for All Stars casting?

The Challenge: All Stars 4 is finally on the horizon, and many viewers are excited for the competitive female cast on the season. However, one cast member has raised a level of concern.

Kam becomes the first cast member from Are You the One? to migrate onto the spin-off series. Originally, when Mark introduced the concept that became All Stars, the casting pool was limited to “OGs” from Real World and Road Rules, and that standard carried onto the first three seasons.

Despite adhering to the “OG” theme, the show did adopt the subtitle “All Stars.” This left some ambiguity in the casting direction, but it’s hard to deny Kam is an All Star. She’s much more successful on The Challenge than many of the prior All Stars players, and she brings a lot of history and storylines onto the show:

  • Firstly, she’s in a longterm relationship with Leroy, so they were probably a package deal coming into the show, and that storyline is likely to continue on the show.
  • When she was on War of the Worlds 2, Cara Maria’s last season, she formed an alliance with Cara and had some disagreements with Laurel.
  • She’s performed very well on her seasons, adding to the hyper-competitive female side of the game.

From an entertainment standpoint, Kam fits the bill, but we also see how production is expanding the boundaries of an “All Star” with each season.

On All Stars 3, we saw Kailah on the cast, becoming the first person under 30 to do the show. From a physical standpoint, she was better suited for the flagship series, but she was a former Real World cast member. Even if we want to forget about Kaila’s Real World season, but she is a Real World alumna.

Allegedly, a few Are You the One cast members were asked about competing on All Stars 3, but they weren’t interested or production chose not to cast them. In Kam’s case, being a new mother and having a storyline with Leroy, going onto All Stars fits her life better.

If there’s an All Stars 5, I anticipate we’re at the point when we’ll see more Are You the One? cast members. We may even see some of the early UK Challengers get invited (like Kyle, Melissa, or Kayleigh).

In 2021, when production opted to use the “All Stars” tagline rather than “OGs,” fan suspected that there would be no firm qualifier to get onto the show. At least we’re getting Kam, someone who is very established on The Challenge and got her start on MTV. There will definitely be some outcry regarding her appearance, but there will be more upset viewers once All Stars extends its casting pool beyond people who debuted on MTV.
