Challenge: All Stars 4

Will Averey Be the Underdog of All Stars 4?

Is Averey a serious contender to win All Stars 4?

The All Stars 4 cast has a stacked roster — especially on the women’s side — and fans are expecting some intense competition. We’ve already seen some strong performances, but one of the frontrunners (so far) flew under most people’s radars.

Averey was the second girl to complete Reach for the Stars, which earned her a star from the initial batch. This meant she outperformed people like Laurel, Rachel, and Nicole Z — competitors who appear to be strong contenders for the crown.

Coming into this season, Averey was a bit of a wild card. She performed decently on Battle of the Exes 2, winning two eliminations with her partner Johnny R., but her athletic abilities that season were overshadowed by her tumultuous relationship with her ex. Then, on Rivals 3, she was paired with Leroy. This could have been a great duo, but Lee had to bow out of the game with a back injury — cutting Averey’s time short.

Given her unusual past, it’s hard to gauge how well Averey will do in the game. In fact, she’s the only person whose tagline mentions her number of elimination wins. She never even won a daily challenge.

It also feels like Averey entered the game with very few relationships. She knows a few people from her prior seasons, like Jay and her “rival” Leroy, but this small group probably isn’t going to take her far. However, we do know she has other friendships. She mentioned that she knows Derek outside of the show, and it’s likely the bulk of her alliances will be with the men in the game. This could help her avoid elimination, but it won’t necessarily help her get a star.

Likely, Averey is going to have a continued role in the season’s progression. If she continues to perform well, she’s likely to get her star back, but her lack of alliances is the reason she lost it in the first place. She’s in an unfortunate situation where she’ll be an easy target. Once she gets a star, people will want to take it (just like Tina did). This won’t get her eliminated from the game, but she will need to be extra clever if she wants to hold onto her star until the final.

Regardless, Averey has already left a mark on this season. She might have to fight to make it far on All Stars 4, but at least the game is in her own hands. She’s finally getting the chance to prove herself without a partner, and so far, we’re seeing a player who ought to be feared.
