1. Tony Time Over
Early into the episode, Tony gets a phone call from home, cutting his time short. Just like Bloodlines, he needs to head home without an elimination. He tells Nicole, who he’s always had a strong relationship with. The two were roommates on Real World: Skeletons, and swore they’d have a strong alliance on Invasion until Sylvia broke it.
2. Taking the Ex-tra Step
After Tony’s departure, Laurel comes over to comfort Nicole. The duo haven’t really spoken this season, but Laurel knows how to comfort Nicole, and she’s not one to ignore Nicole when she’s upset. This was apparent in Vendettas when Laurel came in as a mercenary and she wished Nicole well, even though they’d just broken up.
3. A Couple Divided
In the daily Challenge, Domino Motherfucker, Leroy worked with Flora and Kam works with Ryan. The couple has often adopted the strategy of not working together, most notably on Double Agents. Perhaps this stems back to War of the Worlds 2 when they almost got purged together in Puzzling Swim.
4. A Pint-Sized Outburst
After the daily challenge, Ayanna and Leroy are both in the bottom group. Ayanna mentioned the possibility of sending Leroy in, and this rumor made its way back to Kam. While Kam confronts Ayanna, the source of the rumor is unclear. Ayanna asks Jasmine, and Jasmine defends herself vocally. This closely resembles Jasmine’s outburst on Rivals, though no mirrors were broken in the process.
5. War of the Allies
At the nomination ceremony, Kam was vocal about her desired to see Ayanna face Rachel in elimination. Many people honor her wish, but Cara Maria voted for Ayanna and Flora. Kam feels upset by this, because she considers Cara Maria a friend. The two girls were an alliance on War of the Worlds 2 and made the final together, but Cara insists that she’s playing defense this time around, and if Rachel wins, she’ll protect Cara Maria’s star.
6. Road Rulers United and Divided
Throughout the episode, we see Rachel and Ayanna’s friendship on display. While this hasn’t been well-shown on TV, the two Road Rulers met on Battle of the Sexes 1 & 2. However, the friends find themselves in elimination together and Rachel realizes how strong Ayanna is. Perhaps if she watched Ayanna on All Stars 2, when she made it to the final, she would have known Ayanna’s current potential.
