Battle of the Eras has had its share of controversial eliminations, and the fans are wondering where the headbangers are. According to Kyland, the OGs don’t want them.

However, there were two notable exceptions: He said Darrell and Nehemiah weren’t afraid of physical games. Perhaps Nehemiah is playing an overall fearless game, but this isn’t a surprise for Darrell. He tends to excel when he’s participating in physical eliminations, but strategy and puzzles can be his downfall.
Kyland further revealed that unnamed competitors claimed they would quit if they had to do a physical competition because they were afraid of getting injured.
Though this tweet seems to paint the Era 1 & 2 players in a negative light, there is a point to be made with the final comment. Physical eliminations can leave players in rough shape, and most of the people on those Eras have lives to go back to. Injuries take time to heal, which can be detrimental for certain careers, especially those who work in fitness.
We also know there are other people who like physical eliminations. Before his leg injury, these are the types of games Derrick thrived in, and he did well in Pole Wrestle. Girls like Laurel, Emily, and Cara Maria train for physical eliminations, and while they might not want them, they’re in great condition for something like Balls In or Hall Brawl. Even Aneesa, debatably the most injury prone, competed in Pole Wrestle this season.

Of course, some cast members chimed in. Tina stated that Era 1 comes onto the show to compete, and they’re not afraid of a challenge. Ryan also said that his Era “lives for that shit.” While some people might joke about Ryan and Tina losing in physical eliminations — and the odds might not be in their favor — Kyland’s initial comment was about competing, not winning. And these two have always stepped up to the challenges they’re faced with.
It seems Kyland’s comment might have been a generalization, because there are definitely more Era 1 & 2 players who are willing to compete in physical eliminations than just Darrell and Nehemiah. But, I doubt his comments are utterly baseless.
A lot of people are afraid of getting hurt in physical eliminations — even the ones who want to compete in them. And by design, Battle of the Eras is going to include older competitors, so it’s not ridiculous for them to want to protect their wellbeing.
Fortunately, it’s not like the season won’t have physical eliminations. Every season has a mix, and this one won’t be different. But only time will tell if a physical elimination actually causes someone to quit.
