Challenge: Battle of the Eras

The Laurel & Nurys Drama Explained

Horacio has found himself in the middle of an ongoing, online argument.

If you’ve been following Challengers on social media, you’ve likely seen Laurel and Nurys’ ongoing argument. The two have aired out some public drama, dragging Horacio into the mix, and establishing a Rivals-worthy feud.

The Beginning, Laurel’s Comments

This argument seems to have been brought to public attention when Laurel tweeted that Challenge spoiler accounts get nothing right (receipt 1). Then, she accused Nurys of leaking incorrect information to an account, and she had to contact the account to correct the misinformation.

Nurys denied sharing any information with accounts. She also claims accounts have sent her fake screenshots of Laurel talking shit about her. This may allude to off-camera conflicts that happened between filming season 40 and its airing, but this is pure speculation.

The drama also peaked when Laurel went on Instagram Live and claimed Horacio said she was the biggest blessing he received from The Challenge. Obviously, fans would expect his girlfriend, Nurys, to be the biggest blessing, so it’s no surprise that Nurys took the comments personally.

Nurys Responds

After seeing Laurel’s statements, Nurys addressed the Challenge champ on Twitter with comments (receipt 2) that are very reminiscent of the Laurel vs. Paula fight on Rivals. Nurys said Laurel was pushing 40, had no man, no kids, and a disgusting personality. She also reminded Laurel that she “got” Horacio, and stated Horacio never wanted to be with Laurel.

Nurys also said that Horacio would never be with Laurel, even if she and Horacio broke up (receipt 3). And while Horacio didn’t directly address Laurel, he did post an Instagram story (receipt 4) with Nurys where he called her his biggest blessing.

Laurel, Round 2

Instagram account challengeteaa archived the exchange between Laurel and Nurys, and the drama died down… temporarily. About a week after the initial interaction, Laurel logged back online with more comments (Receipt 5). She called Nurys Horacio’s “sloppy seconds,” and claimed his friends and family think he won’t marry Nurys.

Laurel also responded to comments, stating that she and Horacio were close after “the show” (Ride or Dies). She claims they spoke daily, and he visited her in Florida and stayed with her for a week (receipt 6). Later, Laurel said that she’d still be friends with Horacio when he broke up with Nurys.

Over on Twitter, Laurel revealed that Nurys didn’t know Horacio visited her in Florida (receipt 7) and that he lied to her, implying this was a poor foundation for a relationship (receipt 8). Then, she mocked Nurys for prior relationships with Chris Brown (receipt 9).

While Nurys hasn’t responded to Laurel (yet), Horacio broke his silence. He shared an Instagram Story (receipt 10) advising people not to believe everything they see online. He said his mom love Nurys, and their relationship has been going well. He’s upset that Laurel disrespected the relationship, but ultimately, all he wants is privacy.

Ryan Enters the Chat

Laurel has made more references to her drama (receipt 11) with Nurys, but not really revealing much new information. She did say that Horacio asked her not to speak about Nurys, but she didn’t want to keep her mouth shut after Nurys went on podcasts for months and talked about her.

Ryan, who used to be friends with Laurel, chimed in because he was asked about the drama on Instagram (receipt 12). In his stories, he said he thinks there is something “severely wrong” with Laurel. He said that Laurel and Horacio were only friends, maybe they made out, but it never went further. So, Laurel isn’t going to salvage the friendship by talking bad about Nurys, and Ryan said Laurel is desperate for a storyline so she fabricated her romantic relationship with Horacio. He also said that Laurel thrives off the drama, and he knows Laurel’s stories are fabricated because he was friends with Laurel during the “fake romance.”

Is this the end of the drama? Who knows. It’s been drawn out for a while, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the feud will stop soon.
