Laurel Explains Why She Gave Bananas Just 1 Karma Point

Throughout Battle of the Eras, eliminated players have been giving karma points to their fellow cast members. We haven’t seen any impact from these yet, and many of the point assignments have remained unaired.

One of the moments we did see was Laurel giving out points. To the surprise of many viewers, she only gave Johnny 1 point. This seemed odd, because she was a part of Bananas’ Angels and we didn’t see her having any issue with him throughout this season.

In an interview with Afterbuzz TV (around the 26:30 mark) Laurel addressed this decision. She said that she was “over” this season when she left, but there was one key incident that made her give Bananas a low score.

Somehow, Bananas negotiated permission to film his podcast Death, Taxes and Bananas podcast inside the Battle of the Eras house, and he filmed an episode with Cara Maria about All Stars 4. During the conversation, they weren’t the nicest to Laurel, but that’s the extent of the issue.

Laurel heard that Bananas wouldn’t eliminate Cara Maria because he wanted her to stick around and record the episode. As we know, Laurel and Cara didn’t have the best relationship this season and she took Bananas’ decision personally. So, if Bananas wasn’t working with Laurel, she felt he was working against her.

Laurel also admits that she could have talked with Bananas about this, but because she was checked out of the game, she never did. And it’s not like she knew about the karma points until it was too late to have a conversation.

After the Challenge, Laurel called Bananas and told him about the vote. Apparently, they’ve patched things up, but we don’t know how Laurel’s karma vote will impact Bananas. It could be negligible, because we don’t know how many votes she gave the other competitors. However, Laurel did confess that she was working with Jordan throughout the season, so it’s unlikely he received a low point assignment from her. Assuming Laurel and Bananas are cool now, I’d guess the impact is small, because Bananas is not the type to forgive easily.
