Challenge: All Stars: Rivals

Are Katie & Veronica Actually a Threat on All Stars Rivals?

It seems like Katie & Veronica defied the odds by making it this far in the game, but could they actually win All Stars Rivals?

This has been a rival pairing 20 years in the making, but when Katie & Veronica showed up on All Stars Rivals, it seemed like it may have been too little, too late. On the surface, they didn’t look like they were ready to compete with teams like Devin & Leroy or Faysal & Amber, but those teams are gone and Katie & Veronica are still standing.

As we get closer to the end of All Stars Rivals, these two have been the only girl/girl team to win anything (so far), and they’ve made moves that have resulted in big teams going home.

After Ashley & Dario went home, a star is up for grabs at the next daily challenge. It feels like Katie & Veronica’s strategies are being put into motion, and they could actually be contenders to win this season.

There are certainly viewers who don’t like Katie & Veronica’s strategy, as they’re willing to send front-running teams into the Jungle while they sit on the sidelines — but can you really blame them? They were dealt a shitty hand from day one as they were one of the five girl/girl teams.

Though they did win the Blow Your Mind challenge, other challenges seem like they’d be impossible for this duo. We saw this on episode 8 when they completed the puzzle during the Shooting for the Star challenge. Despite this, they couldn’t clock in their time by touching the star, simply because they were too short.

So far, losses like this haven’t been a massive deal for Katie & Veronica because they both excel at the social game, and targeting the strongest teams is the best hand they can play. And now that they’ve eliminated some of their major threats, their road to victory has gotten a lot easier.

And the truth is, the two girls do stand a chance at winning. Much to the dismay of viewers, nearly every competition this season has been plagued with puzzles and equalizers. This makes it possible for Katie & Veronica to win things and get power, even if they’re not the fastest or strongest pair.

This fact alone should also mean that they’re not going to do well in a final, but if the All Stars 4 final is any indication, you don’t need to be super strong to win. Competitors were rewarded for keeping their composure, being clever, and excelling at carnival-style games.

Assuming we see a similar final on All Stars Rivals, Katie & Veronica could win, especially if there are opportunities to gain power during the competition (and there likely will be). They won’t be the front-runners, but they also won’t be dead on arrival.

Despite appearing like an underwhelming team on the surface, it’s clear that Katie & Veronica showed up this season prepared to play the game. They may not appear to be threats when you look at them, but there’s a reason Katie is a Challenge professor. She & Veronica are playing a masterful political game, and if they make it to the final, it will be well-earned.
