All Stars Rivals: Top Moments from Episode 9

What happened on Episode 9 of All Stars Rivals?

A star is up for grabs — so is a seat on a flight home.

The Middle Man

So far, Shane & Da’Vonne have been caught in the middle of the political game, but Da’Vonne doesn’t really trust Veronica. She’s most closely aligned with Nany & Turbo, but Shane feels it would be beneficial to get on the same page as Veronica. Shane asks Da’Vonne to talk to V, but Da’Vonne is reluctant. She doesn’t know Veronica well, but she does knows this would mean working with someone who isn’t going to protect the people she’d like to keep around.

A Clean Victory

The daily challenge is named Bubble Bullseye, and a star is up for grabs. One teammate is on a sled, and the other must push their partner through foam and onto a course of targets. The goal is to land closest to the center and score the most points. Each round, the team farthest away from the bullseye will get eliminated, though there are some penalties for touching the board or falling off the sled. In round 1, Nany & Turbo get eliminated, then Nicole & Melissa get out because Nicole gets a penalty for touching the ground. In round 3, Adam & Steve get eliminated because Steve tips over. In the fourth round, Katie & Veronica get out, meaning Shane & Da’Vonne get the free star — and the duo keep their hot streak. They eliminate Frank & Sam in the final round with a bullseye and win the whole challenge.

An Unclean Strategy

After the challenge, the political game starts up. Nicole asks that she and Melissa become the house vote, because she’s unsure whether or not she’ll have another chance to get a star. It’s assumed that Shane & Da’Vonne will then send in Katie & Veronica so they have one last chance to get a star (operating on the assumption that this is the final challenge). Frank relays this strategy to Steve, and Da’Vonne asks Frank what he’s talking about. He gives a vague answer about wanting to control chaos, but he won’t really tell Da’Vonne what his strategy is. Da’Vonne views this as sketchy, and she doesn’t love the plan of a Nicole & Melissa vs. Katie & Veronica elimination because she knows that this means Nany & Turbo’s star is likely to get stolen.

Feet from the Final

The cast is going out to the club, it’s raining, and Veronica falls and rolls her ankle. She panics because she doesn’t want to get disqualified near the final like she did on All Stars 3. All of her friends come to help her, and Frank (who has a doctorate in physical therapy) says all she needs to do is rest, elevate, and ice. Shane starts to massage it and tells Veronica to put on compression socks, but Frank insists this is unnecessary. He walks away frustrated, and Shane feels that Frank is being shady. Luckily, something worked because Veronica wakes up the next morning with an ankle she can walk on.

Just as Predicted

At the house vote, Nicole & Melissa are sent in because they volunteer. Nany & Turbo seem to be resigned to their fate, but they talk to Shane & Da’Vonne after the deliberation. Nany feels like she hasn’t won much this season, and Da’Vonne doesn’t feel good about being a cog in the plan that gets her friend’s star stolen. At the Jungle, Shane says they’re going to send in Katie & Veronica, but Da’Vonne wants to know what happens if they disagree. However, she’s just joking,

Inflated Emotions

The Jungle Game is called Pin Pop, and the teams are placed on two pedestals with a rope in the middle that has a large pin on it. Both teammates need to synchronize with their partner to get their pin into bullseyes and pop seven balloons. Melissa starts out with excitement because she claims to have good hand-eye coordination, but the game is neck-and-neck. Nicole & Melissa start with the lead, then Katie & Veronica take it. Eventually, both teams are going for their seventh and final balloon. Nicole & Melissa get it done, sending home the two Road Rules girls. Now, Nicole & Melissa are tasked with stealing a star, and unsurprisingly, they take it from Nany & Turbo. But TJ ends by saying, “see you at the next challenge,” implying there’s another competition before the final.
