Challenge: All Stars 6 Season 42

All Stars 6 Seems Unlikely

All Stars 6 may not be happening soon after all.

Gamer has shared an upsetting — but somewhat expected — update regarding the next installment of All Stars: It’s not happening. At least, it won’t be happening soon.

Gamer did not say that the series was canceled, but it doesn’t seem like production will be filming in 2025. This isn’t a death sentence: There was a very long break between All Stars 3 and All Stars 4. But, this news certainly isn’t reassuring.

At this point, the news was somewhat predictable, even though All Stars 6 was rumored a few months ago. All Stars Rivals has only gotten lukewarm ratings, and it hasn’t been met with the best reviews. Fans are still confused by some of the casting choices, and the format received a lot of criticism. However, the biggest source of frustration has been the inability to stream the season on Paramount+.

To be honest, All Stars Rivals made a lot of viewers question the point of All Stars. Most of the contestants were either recently active on the flagship series or they’ve done multiple seasons of All Stars. This made casting for All Stars Rivals feel less exciting, and it lacks the nostalgia that the first few seasons had.

The good news: Season 42 of the flagship series seems to be in the works, and Gamer stated it’ll likely film in the fall. This means The Challenge would still film two seasons this year, they’d just be two flagship seasons. So, it doesn’t seem like we’ll be in a Challenge drought.

While there were some missteps on All Stars Rivals, the spinoff series has been a breath of fresh air. There is still a lot of potential in the franchise, and it would be a tough loss to see it get fully canceled. However, I don’t think a break is a bad thing. Hopefully, that will garner interest from cast members so we get a stellar cast if All Stars 6 happens in the future.

  1. Lets hope not. I think All Stars is so much better than the bloated regular Challenges. All Stars episodes were a brisk 1 hour, very watchable, the final was entertaining and allowed for all the teams to have a chance. Bringing back older mainstays like Frank, Ashley, and Sam is what long time viewers like myself want. Not some random foreigners from random international reality shows. Also, like I said, the main Challenge shows are too long. The actual Challenges are way too long, I find myself fast forwarding through a lot of it. Also, interactions among the newer casts are generic and made for TV, unlike on All Stars where most have a long history with each other and more genuine love and / or hate for one another. Keep the All Stars alive!

      1. Because there is no meaningful difference between the flagship and all the spin-offs except them being a bit more entertaining usually recently.

    1. If your fast-forwarding through the actual challenges themselves, which take up a majority of the episodes, then maybe this show isn’t for you.

  2. Totally agree that All Stars has been a breath of fresh air—shorter episodes, more heart, and the return of familiar faces like Frank, Ashley, and Sam really taps into what longtime fans love. The chemistry and history between the cast members just feels way more authentic compared to the overly produced vibes on the flagship seasons. That said, I do think The Challenge: USA is a valuable part of the franchise too. It’s not just filler—it’s become an important transition series that brings in solid rookie competitors from Survivor and The Amazing Race and helps them adapt to the Challenge format. Without it, we’re just relying on the MTV flagship series, which isn’t enough on its own anymore.

At the same time, if production really wants to keep the franchise thriving, they need to figure out a way to make filming less of a grind. These 8+ week commitments are a huge reason why fan favorites like Wes, Jonna, Darrell, or even newer standouts like Justine from Love Island/USA can’t keep coming back. If we want a balance of nostalgia, strong gameplay, and fresh talent, the format has to work better for the players too. There’s room for all these versions to co-exist—and thrive—if they’re structured the right way.

    1. Idk I think USA and All-Stars being dead now isn’t a big deal as long as the make the flagship good again. Just mix OGS and promising Rookies from CBS into the flagship and we should be good on that front.
