Check Point 5: Pho King Trivia
It’s time to eat, and the cast gets a big bowl of pho — with special ingredients like black snails, spicy peppers, and, coconut worms. The catch: Teams are being asked trivia questions about their partners, and if their responses don’t match, they add the gross ingredient to their bowl. If they’re correct, they get to give the gross ingredient to another team. Shane & Da’Vonne are doing well with the questions, but they’re in first place overall, so people are targeting them. They try to be noble and spread out their penalty ingredients, but Nicole takes offense to this, so Shane makes her his target. Meanwhile, no one is targeting Frank & Sam because they’re in last, and they’re answering all of their questions correctly. They should have an easy time finishing their bowl, but they’ve come to realize that Steve’s experience with competitive eating proves to be the biggest asset.

Checkpoint 6: High Tide
The teams need to run to boats (the same little boats we saw during Light It Up on episode 1 of Battle of the Eras) then paddle them across the water. It’s a 1-mile row, and once they dock their boats, they need to clock their time at the finish line. Steve pulls a muscle in his quad before he even gets to his boat, but he’s lucky to have Adam on his team because he knows how to row a boat. They take an early lead, but they start paddling off course. Sam proves her upper body endurance is strong, because she & Frank dock their boat before Adam & Steve and they get first place.

Checkpoint 7: Shoulder the Load
Teams need to take a pole with two bowls on the side. The goal is to run back and forth to the water and fill a vile to the line by carrying water in the bowl without spilling. Sam encounters an issue before this checkpoint: Her knee is hurt from the prior day and she can barely move, even though Frank is carrying the pole by himself. He tries to motivate her, but she falls in the marshy land, and he’s moving much faster with the weight on his back than Sam is without any weight. This causes Frank & Sam to not finish, and Nicole & Melissa also struggle because they can’t figure out how to move in unison. Frank gets frustrated and yells, knowing this cost him & Sam the game, but he tries not to contribute to embarrassing Sam further.

Checkpoint 8: Balance Them All
Teams have a teeter totter and eight sandbags per player. They need to put the bags on the teeter totter and balance it while standing on it. This is do or die for Shane & Da’Vonne and Adam & Steve, because their scores are tied going into this check point. The horn blows, but both Shane & Da’Vonne and Adam & Steve think they’ve won, but TJ hasn’t made an announcement.

… and the Winners Are
TJ announces the third and fourth place teams, but we already knew them. So, the first and second place teams are anxiously waiting, and Steve & Adam take the win by mere seconds. Shane & Da’Vonne come in second, and they take the loss in stride. Da’Vonne calls this her “farewell” season, and Shane isn’t even mad, but there’s a twist for the winners.

Thicker Than Thieves?
Adam & Steve are taken to two star chambers and they’re asked if their partner will split the money or steal the money. If their answers match, the teammates will split the money, but if they don’t match, they’ll have a winner-take-all challenge. But, they both split, so they’ll take home $125,000 each — and Adam leaves with a proposal for Averey… answer TBD.
