Challenge: All Stars 6

All Stars 6 Is Likely Happening — Should It Have a Theme?

Now, season 6 seems likely, but what would the format look like?

The future of All Stars has been in limbo. At one point, it was believed that season six wouldn’t happen, but now, it seemingly has the green light.

Spoiler account Gamer alluded to the season, and another spoiler account, PinkRose, confirmed that availability calls are going out. This is a very strong indicator that Paramount is going to move forward with season 6, but nothing is official until the cast is in front of TJ.

The season is slated to film later this year, but a more defined filming window has not been announced.

We don’t know much else about the season, and obviously, the cast isn’t known yet (though Mark has put some feelers out there). Formatting hasn’t been discussed yet, but it seems possible that the season may incorporate a theme. The fifth All Stars installment adopted a Rivals theme, while the first four seasons had no real theme; they were closer to Duel seasons than anything else.

All Stars: Rivals wasn’t the most popular season, so should the next All Stars season return to the original, individual format?

It seems wise to use some type of theme. A lot of people are calling for a Battle of the Exes. We’ve reached a point where a lot of the OGs have already appeared on All Stars. Incorporating a theme could keep the spinoff series fresh without deviating too far from All Stars’ intended purpose.

It could also be fun to see a new theme introduced through All Stars, like reuniting partners that worked together on flagship seasons. However, it feels like we’ve reach the point when being “All Stars” isn’t enough. Season 6 needs something else to make it stand out, and a good theme could differentiate this from being a great season and a mediocre one.

  1. i don’t necessarily prefer a theme or not, although the themes do provide an extra dimension of nostalgia, which is what the focus of the show always seemed to be. Fewer ‘newer’ players, please.

  2. I agree with the above comment mostly. A strong cast would negate the need for a theme. Give us the actual OGs or people that would make us go, “…what a wildcard! Did not expect to see them.” Think Cara (RR 12), Sarah (RR 11), Susie (RR 6), Dan (RR 5), Jillian (RR 13). And on the RW side, Julie and Melissa (RW: New Orleans), obviously Coral (RW: Back to NY), Danny (RW: Austin), Landon (RW: Philly), Dunbar (RW: Sydney).

But if a theme is a must – give us true nostalgia. Give us a Real World vs. Road Rules theme, with challenges and eliminations akin to what we saw on the the Gauntlet I. Can’t get any more classic than that.

    1. yeah or a bad asses vs good guys, duel, ruins, fresh meat from RR/RW that have never donw the challenge type theme.

  3. I think a theme wouldn’t hurt. Just think and try to remember All Stars 1-4 and who was on that season and who wasn’t. Hard isn’t it? All Stars Rivals: not difficult to remember Frank and Sam, Shane and Da’Vonne, Adam and Steve etc. (Also it aired not long ago so recency bias). As for themes: the world is their oyster. Looking at the wiki, it’s mostly been individual and pairs with teams sprinkled in. Exes seems to be the most commonly requested and the easiest to pick from. They could venture out try a two team format or even three teams, like a Gauntlet, Inferno, Ruins, or even Cutthroat. Heck even a bloodlines could be interesting seeing an OG bring a family member.
