Challenge: Vets & New Threats

The Challenge Vet & New Threats: Top Moments from Episode 2

The top moments from episode 2 of Vets & New Threats.

One player is gone, one player is a “Hangnail,” and we have the potential for new partners.

New Day, New Teams

At the Arena, TJ reveals everyone needs a new partner, and people will pick their teammates after each challenge. Competitors will pick their partner based on their placement in the daily Challenge. Here are the new teams:

Dee & Leroy
Bananas & Izzy
Aviv & Jake
Yeremi & Nany
Theo & Sydney
Olivia & Will
Cedric & Ashley
Michaela & Leo
Gabe & Cara Maria
Nia & Ben
Leka & Turbo
Justin & Aneesa
Derrick & Blue
America & CT
Derek & Tay

TJ also reveals that Justin won 2 points by winning the elimination, and that incentive will continue throughout the season.

Love Will Find a Way

A lot of girls are shifting their attention to Will, and while he insists that he doesn’t have a crush on one specific girl (yet), he reveals that he used to hook up with Dee. He says it stings a little bit to see Bananas and Dee hooking up, but Dee was never his girlfriend, and he plans to move on from that relationship… hopefully.

Speed Run

The challenge is called Side By Side, and there will be four side-by-sides jumping over a pit where the competitors will be standing to read a code painted on the bottom of the vehicles. They will then run up to their stations where they’ll recreate the codes, and teammates must remain side-by-side the whole time. The cast is stunned by just how fast the cars are moving — but some keen players realize there’s a pattern. Among those people are Turbo & Leka, who become the first team to finish. All of the teams who manage to complete the puzzle early discover the pattern. As teams continue to complete the puzzle, it comes down to Tay & Derek and Blue & Derrick, but in the end, Blue & Derrick come in last place meaning Blue will be heading to the Arena.

New Threat Roulette

The cast goes to the club, and the girls are fighting to stay in the game, but Justin makes the first move. He calls out Derek for lying to him last week when he said he wouldn’t vote him into the Arena. Then, Leka talks to Blue and Adrienne, the Hangnail, about nominees. Blue suggests sending in Tay, but Adrienne isn’t content with being safe. She suggests sending in Michaela because she doesn’t want the veterans running the game (and really, she doesn’t want a member of her UK alliance in the Arena). Leka determines she’ll be sending in Adrienne or Tay because it’s too early to say the veterans are running the game, and that’s her best move.

Dee-Nial

The rookies are getting messy. Leo and Derek fight after Leo semi-steals a drink, but Will is the one who really overreacts. He’s watching Dee & Bananas flirt, and it’s making him jealous — even though they were never in a committed relationship, it was just a hookup at the hotel. Will starts getting upset on the bus and punches the seat in front of him, but Dee finds this kind of funny. When the cast gets back to the house, Justin, Leka, and Aneesa try to console Will, but he keeps looking over the edge at Dee and Bananas making out. Will gets upset, punches the wall, and cries over Dee, but she’s just cuddling with Bananas and giggles about the drama she created.

The Other Girl

At the nominations, Turbo & Leka are given the power to nominate one girl to be up for judgment with Adrienne. Unsurprisingly, the winners pick Tay, per Blue’s request. Then, every team honors Blue’s wishes except for America’s team (who’s supposed to be Blue’s friend), but this means Tay will be the second girl in the Arena.

Follow the Light Home

The Arena game is called Laser Focus, and it’s played in three rounds. Each round, each person will have a chance to play offense and defense. In the ring, there is a laser shining lights and the offensive player needs to get the light to shine on their body while the defensive player will try to prevent her opponent from reaching the light. Also, competitors have their hands tied together, because why not. In the first heat, Blue shocks the crowd with her grit and willingness to fight. Then, Tay surprises everyone with her speed and she wins the first round. In the second heat, Blue makes a comeback and beats Tay by one point, but both girls are exhausted going into the third round. This is evident at the start of Blue’s turn playing offense, because Tay is able to knock her down and she’s slow to get back up. Tay’s getting slow, but Blue starts to feel dizzy and she stops competing, allowing Tay to defeat her in round two and take home the win.
