This season is off to a slow start in terms of viewership. Did things pick up after the first episode?
The Challenge: Vets & New Threats: Episode 2 was watched by 252,000 live viewers and received a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This is an increase of 9,000 viewers compared to episode 1, but the demo stayed flat. It was the 13th highest-rated cable show of the night.
While any increase is better than a decrease, this is not the push the show needed. Hopefully it’s still gaining momentum, because this is a worrisome start for the season. Most other MTV shows (Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, Love & Hip-Hop, and Caught in the Act) are outperforming the Challenge.
Here are some benchmarks to compare this episode:
Vets & New Threats Episode 1: 243,000 viewers (0.10 rating)
All Stars Rivals Episode 2: 247,000 (0.10 rating)
Battle of the Eras Episode 2: 466,000 viewers (0.20 rating)
