It’s been a while since Real World: Denver star Davis Mallory has been on our screens, but a video of him recently emerged where he discussed his journey out of homosexuality.
In the clip, Davis seems to be preaching as a worship leader. He discusses that he lived the “gay lifestyle” for 20 years and mentions his appearance on The Real World. Then, he says God pulled him out of that lifestyle and describes the dreams he had that helped him reach this conclusion.

At first this seems like a shocking claim, and many people will say homosexuality cannot be cured. And this is true, at least, there’s no scientific evidence to back it up. But Davis technically didn’t say he was no longer a homosexual — though his statements did seem to gather a lot of applause from the audience.
Davis said he was pulled out of the “lifestyle,” so this could mean he’s no longer partying or pursuing sexual relationships with men. Rather, he’s been directed to focus his attention on spiritual needs. But this is just speculation. Davis never said he was looking for a wife or female partner, and his comment did seem to reject his involvement with the LGBTQ+ community.
Davis did say one thing that’s very true: He’s had a complex relationship with his sexuality and religion. This was a big part of his story on the Real World: Denver, and he had multiple discussions about it on the show, especially with his roommate Stephen. During his time filming the Real World, Davis had a boyfriend, PJ, but his family wasn’t very accepting of the relationship. Davis revealed his siblings stopped contacting him and his communication with his mother was strained; at one point, his mother requested he live a lifestyle in accordance with the Bible.

Davis would later appear on the Challenge seasons. On The Inferno 3, CT punched him and it’s been assumed it was because Davis’ sexuality made him appear weaker. On The Duel 2, Davis had a fling with Ryan where they made out in a hot tub (with Brooke cheering them on), then they hooked up in a bed (without Brooke cheering them on).
Ultimately, this is Davis’ life, and he’s allowed to live it as he sees fit — and honestly, this would make a fascinating story for a Real World Homecoming season. He spent much of his life surrounded by the Christian faith, and this is documented on the Real World. It’s not unexpected that his religion would play a role in his adult life, even if his recent revelations are a bit shocking.
Of course, Davis has also been working as a DJ, singer, and music producer. And I’m not saying he has any ulterior motives with his announcement, but he did end the clip with about 1 minute of his own music.
