Should You Watch 99 To Beat — Cara Maria’s Other Show?

Cara Maria left The Challenge for another competition. Is it worth watching?

The Challenge: Vets & New Threats is over, and fans of the franchise may be looking for more competition reality shows to get into. Recently, Cara Maria competed on a Fox show, 99 to Beat (which actually competed with Vets & New Threat’s time slot).

The premise: One hundred competitors compete in a series of mini games, sometimes individually and other times in teams. You don’t have to win, but you can never come in last. The last-place person/team is eliminated until only one player remains.

Cara Maria managed to find a Temu knockoff of Paulie on this show.

After watching the full season, I’d only recommend this show to some Challenge fans. There are 10 episodes and 100 contestants. If you’re looking for strategy, drama, and backstabbing, this isn’t the show for you. It’s all about competition, and it feels uplifting, even when people get eliminated.

So, if you’re looking to learn more about Cara Maria, then this is not the show for you. You don’t get many backstories about the competitors.

In fact, there are a few more reality TV faces. Tommy Bracco from Ride or Dies and Big Brother 21 also appears. Survivor fans will spot two winners: Sandra Diaz-Twine and Danni Boatwright, and there are a few more reality TV deep cuts. Miranda Harrison appeared on Deal or No Deal Island 1, Malissa Miles appeared as a coach on The Bachelorette season 14, Geraldine Moreno was on The Traitors USA 1, and David “King David” Shad was on Are You the One? 6.

The games on the show are fairly low-budget and simple, but that’s not really an issue. For the most part, the games seem to be activities you could replicate with simple household objects. This makes it very easy to follow along with the competition’s fast-paced nature.

The competition’s format also makes it easy for some people to get lost in the mix. And the simplicity of the games falls into “jenky carnival game” territory, something Cara Maria has vocally opposed.

That said, as you get to the second half of the season, you’ll start to get familiar with some of the people in the competition — even the people with no television background.

While I don’t think all Challenge fans will like 99 to Beat, it is a Fox show. That means you can stream it on Tubi entirely for free. It’s also currently on Hulu, so you may want to stream it there if you have a subscription, because Tubi does require you to watch ads.

99 to Beat is probably designed to be more passive viewing than a hardcore competition show because the games are so simple and there’s not really any strategic game. But it’s so easy to stream it for free that it’s worth giving it a shot if you think you might be interested.
