Averey’s Dog Daisy Has Died

The Real World: Portland dog has passed away 14 years after filming the season.

A beloved member of the Real World: Portland cast passed away on Monday, February 23. Averey shared that her dog Daisy — a Chihuahua mix — died.

Late last week Averey shared that Daisy was facing liver failure. While Averey was by Daisy’s side until the end, the news was deeply troubling for her. This morning, Averey posted an Instagram story that revealed Daisy “gained her wings” on Monday.

While this is sad news, Daisy lived a very full life. She was included in Averey’s Real World audition tape, and the Portland season filmed in 2013. This would mean Daisy lived to be 14 or 15 years old (at least).

However, in the audition tape Averey said Daisy was her main family at the time. So, the two became very close, and Daisey even entered the Real World Portland house.

That wasn’t the last time we heard about Daisy. When Averey returned for All Stars 4, she had a custom-made hoodie and pillow to honor her four-legged BFF while they were separated. We also got a brief update on Daisy during the season.

Daisy will be remembered for her loyalty, loving nature, and pooping on the floor of the Portland house. She has the distinction of being the only dog to appear in a Real World intro.

While this news is very upsetting, we know Daisy’s life was filled with love. She moved around with Averey and she had opportunities that most dogs will never experience. When she appeared on The Real World, she wasn’t looking for fame; she just wanted to protect her guardian, Averey.

Understandably, this is a hard time for Averey, and she’s taking a break from social media. Fortunately, she will be able to grieve with her new family, including her soon-to-be-husband Adam.

Though Daisy had a long, adventurous life, that doesn’t mean this isn’t a somber time. My heart is with Averey & Adam, and I’m glad we had a few glimpses into Daisy’s life.
