It may be hard to believe, but it’s been five years since Spies, Lies and Allies filmed. The season was quite polarizing, as were its cast members — but perhaps no rookie was more divisive than Emy.
The Romanian Challenger hasn’t done a follow-up season, but she’s still asked about the show. Based on a recent Instagram story, she seems willing to make a return if the show wants her back.
By this point, it’s somewhat well known that Emy originally planned to return for Ride or Dies with Emanuel, but MTV dropped them at the last minute. Allegedly, they were cut because of the backlash Emy received over her 2016 appearance on Romania’s X Factor.
It’s been four years since Ride or Dies, and we’ve seen a decent number of Challengers return who have made racially insensitive mistakes. In fact, Jordan was cast on Ride or Dies, and two years later, Emily made a comeback on Battle of the Eras.
So, is it time to show Emy some grace and let her have another shot at The Challenge?
At this point, it almost seems like her return would be welcome. Between All Stars and the main series, we don’t have too many Challengers who could make a surprising return. And while Emy wouldn’t be a huge shock, her presence certainly wouldn’t feel repetitive.
She may not have a lot of connections on the show, but she’d be a built-in ally for CT. She also demonstrated a lot of determination during Spies, Lies and Allies, and her competitive spirit makes her a likable player.
In recent years, the Challenge seems to like redemption arc storylines. Emy could fit into that mold, but even if she doesn’t, she would add some variety to a fairly repetitive group of veterans.
Given some of the people who have returned to The Challenge in recent years, Emy’s scandal feels minor. So, her willingness to come back and her unfinished story could be a surprising-but-fun element for a future season.
