If you’re on of the approximate 14 million DirectTV subscribers, you may be noticing some missing channels…namely out beloved MTV. Direct TV has missing Viacom’s channels for about 4 days now, and there are no signs of the channels returning.
The cause of this problem? Viacom want DirectTV to pay 30% more for its channels. DirectTV refuses, stating that Viacom’s channels have been declining in ratings. Frankly, Nickelodeon continues to be one of (if not THE) biggest channel on cable TV. Viacom wants its viewers to call DirectTV and address the issue, so it has removed some of its most popular content from the Internet.
Viacom’s channels include: MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, VH1, BET, CMT, & TV Land just to name a few.
I guess MTV’s old “I want my MTV” tagline is once again relevant.
