Challenge: All Stars 4

How Did Cara Maria Become Public Enemy Number One?

How did All Stars 4 turn into another season of Cara Maria vs. the world?

Cara Maria started All Stars 4 with a really strong performance. She got her star, was having fun, and had started to make some allies.

Then, the tides started to turn. She didn’t honor Kam’s wishes and people started treating her like an outsider.

But, Kam’s just one person — with two votes if you include Leroy. Now, it seems like the whole house is against her. So, what went wrong?

We can pinpoint the beginning of Cara’s struggles to the moment she didn’t vote Rachel and Ayanna into The Arena, but it’s not because she went against Kam. Rather, it’s because she made an alliance with Rachel to protect their stars. It immediately created a divide between star holders and star seekers, and Cara was trying to make it difficult for others to get a star.

Of course, this backfired when Rachel and Cara Maria found themselves in the Arena. Cara Maria won a second star, and gave it to Jasmine, hoping to put a “starget” on her back.

Right now, various groups are against Cara Maria, with the most notable being Kam. That feud is easy to understand, and it’s been central to the show’s storyline.

We also see Jasmine opposing Cara Maria. Again, this is easy to understand because Jasmine fought to get Cara and Rachel in The Arena, leading to the “starget.” However, Cara Maria may not have understood the connections that Jasmine has in the game. Most notably, her friends like Derek and Ryan are caught in the middle of the crossfire. Now that Jasmine has been eliminated, they’re likely to hold resentment toward Cara Maria because she put Jasmine in the position that got her sent home.

On episode 6, we also saw Nicole voice her frustrations with Cara Maria. Of course, Cara Maria is tangentially related to her relationship with Laurel. Not only have Cara and Laurel had beef, but there are also rumors that Nicole flirted with Cara during Vendettas (shortly after she broke up with Laurel). This caused more frustration between Laurel and Nicole. But, it seems Laurel is warming up to Cara Maria again. Laurel found comfort with Cara Maria when Nicole wanted to stop the All Stars 4 flirtation.

Finally, we have Veronica insisting that she’d never work with Cara Maria. While Veronica was trying to save her own ass, she seemed to show more dislike toward Cara Maria throughout the episode. Likely, this stems from the fact that the two girls were never close during prior seasons (Dirty Thirty through Final Reckoning). Veronica may also be frustrated because Cara Maria tried to form an alliance with Rachel, but this is unlikely to be a serious factor in their distrust.

Cara Maria knows this season will be an uphill battle, but at least she has a few allies. It seems Averey is open to making small agreements with her, and Jay is working with her as well. But, all of her nemeses have friends, and this will cause more people to vote against Cara Maria. Fortunately, eliminations are one of the areas where Cara Maria does her best, and there’s a good shot that she’ll see more Arenas before the end of the season.

  1. It’s so funny to me that the same people that don’t like Caras game are the same people who always screaming about they are not playing anyone else’s game but their own. Should she not play a selfish game when it is a 1 person takes all? She is playing her game just like everyone else plays their own games so they need to get off their soap boxes. At this point people just like to make excuses for their atrocious behavior towards her.
