All Stars 5 seems like it’s already off to a sloppy(ish) start, but there could also be a major transition in the works.
On tv schedules from cable providers, the Wednesday, Dec. 18 episode of The Challenge was listed as an “All Stars” preview. However, this seems to be a bit of a placeholder because MTV’s official schedule was revised, and Battle of the Eras episode 17 airs on Dec. 18 (note, the image is in PST, so it says 5 p.m. rather than 8 p.m.)
There’s another rumor circulated, and the source is a “little bird” AKA Shane Landrum. He heard that All Stars 5 will be the season that makes the jump from Paramount+ to MTV.
This is not the first time there have been discussions of making this type of transition. In the past, All Stars 3 I believe, it was speculated that episodes would air on Paramount+, then air on MTV at a later date. Then, there were rumors that All Stars 4 would make the jump to MTV. Fans waited a long time between filming and airing, but in the end, the show found its home on Paramount+.
This is the first time a cast member has hinted at the transition. Keep in mind, the source is Shane. He’s definitely someone who will feed the hardcore fans, and I do not think he’s making this up. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if Paramount hasn’t 100% decided to move All Stars 5 to MTV, so I wouldn’t be shocked if the transition didn’t happen.
While this could be a great investment in the future of All Stars, some Challenge fans have expressed frustrations. Specifically, they’re worried MTV will want to edit out drama and it will definitely edit out swears.
Nothing is confirmed yet, but Frank and Corey Lay have been posting some Easter Eggs on social media. Both have made Instagram stories featuring “⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.” Frank called himself “Your favorite Challenger’s favorite Challenger” while Corey claimed he was “Your least favorite Challenger’s least favorite Challenger.”
These fun teasers do confirm one thing. All Stars 5 is coming!
