Challenge: Battle of the Eras

The Challenge Battle of the Eras: Top Moments from Episode 19

The top moments from episode 19 of Battle of the Eras.

The end is here, the winner will be revealed, and karma will be unleashed. This is part 2 of the final that started last week.

Overnight, Part 2: Counting Coins

The clock is ticking, and competitors are getting increasingly tired as they count and sing. Eventually, Jenny just puts down a number to end her misery and go to bed. Then, Derek throws down a number with a level of confidence. Competitors continuously enter their guesses until Tori is the only one left, and she locks in her tally around 4:30 a.m. After counting, the finalists are rewarded by sleeping on the cold, metal floor on the upper deck of Sinister until TJ reveals the placement.

This is the finishing order, based on how close Challengers are to the actual number of coins:
First: Derek + Rachel
Second: Jordan + Michele
Third: Kyland + Jenny
Fourth: Bananas + Tori

Checkpoint 5: Submerging Terror

The finalists need to swim from sinister to a raft, and once there, they need to follow directions. When they get to the raft (Jordan arrived first…surprise), the finalists find kayaks and are instructed to swim to a cave, find a hidden beach, and retrieve a paddle for the kayak. Then, they swim back to the raft and need to dive underneath it to get a key from a cage. This key unlocks their kayak, and they’ll use it to paddle back to Sinister. Jordan is the first person to retrieve his paddle, and he stops to catch his breath. This allows other competitors to catch up with him, but he’s still the first person to get his key. For the women, Tori is the last person to return to the raft but the first person to obtain her key and start her row back to Sinister.

This is the finishing order:
First: Jordan + Jenny
Second: Derek + Tori
Third: Bananas + Rachel
Fourth: Kyland + Michele

Checkpoint 6: Mathematical Leisure

In the middle of the ocean, there’s a sand bar, and TJ invites the competitors to have a drink. They all cringe, but they know they can’t decline this invitation. But when they swim to the sand bar, they see coconut water. Instead, it’s a math contest. Finalists sit down in the order they arrive to compete in a head-to-head math problem. The winner swims back to Sinister and the loser remains to battle the next competitor. The competitors depart in this order: Jordan, Jenny, Rachel, Tori, Derek, Michele, then Kyland. Bananas remains on the island, which means he defaults to last place.

This is the finishing order:
First: Jordan + Jenny
Second: Derek + Michele
Third: Kyland + Rachel
Fourth: Bananas + Tori

Checkpoint 7: Champion’s Cove

TJ announces this is the last checkpoint, and the finalists are excited, but it’s not over. They need to swim to a buoy and read directions. When the first competitor gets there (it’s Jordan, surprise), we learn that they’re getting an underwater scooter and they need to use it to continue to the cove where they’ll collect a token. Most people are excited to get the assistance, but Jenny doesn’t understand how to use the scooter. Jordan is the first person to get to the cove, but he doesn’t immediately see the token. Michele does, and she zips back to Sinister. She’s the first person back, and Rachel is a close second, meaning this is the first time Jordan isn’t the first returner.

This is the finishing order:
First: Jordan + Michele
Second: Bananas + Rachel
Third: Derek + Tori
Fourth: Kyland + Jenny

The Final Score: Men

TJ reveals that each checkpoint will be tallied. The first place finisher gets 4 points, second place gets 3, third place gets 2, and last place gets 1. Then, the karma points are equivalent to two checkpoints.

For the men, karma points did not change the rankings at all. The placements are as followed:
First: Jordan: $400,000
Second: Derek: $75,000
Third: Bananas: $25,000
Fourth: Kyland: Nothing

However, Derek had the best karma score, securing 8 points. Kyland got 6, Jordan got 4, and Bananas only got 2.

The Final Score: Women

Unlike the men, the women did see movement based on the karma points. Rachel went from third place to tying Jenny for first place, meaning they will share the first and second place prize.

First: Rachel: $237,500
First: Jenny: $237,500
Third: Michele: $25,000
Fourth: Tori: Nothing

The karma points are as follows: Rachel: 8, Tori: 6, Michele: 4, Jenny: 2
