Challenge: All Stars: Rivals

Is All Stars Rivals Finally Nany’s Shot to Finally Win?

There's one thing holding this team back.

All Stars Rivals has a few stand out teams, but among the strongest is Nany & Turbo. Both competitors are anomalies in the Challenge world. Turbo won his debut season, a rare feat, but Nany has 12 seasons under her belt without a win.

Only two people (Aneesa and Leroy) have appeared on that many seasons and not secured a win, but Nany’s appearance on War of the Worlds remains a huge “what if” in the Challenge world.

Turbo won that season all by himself, but many viewers feel he would have still won if the teams didn’t split up. This would have given Nany her first win, but instead, she went home before the final. Based on the conversation Nany had with Turbo upon entering the Rivals house, it’s clear she shares this feeling.

Nany told Turbo they could win the whole thing if they work well together, but Turbo seems to be very standoffish around Nany. The two were friends at the start of Ride or Dies, and Turbo wanted to help Nany win, but he didn’t want to politic in the game. He was quite argumentative and wouldn’t beg for safety, so Nany sent him into the Zone, which he seemingly requested. Not only that, the entire audience at the Memory Lane elimination fed answers to Horacio & Olivia, which ensured Turbo & Tamara went home.

This time around, Turbo seems to think he can win — even though he doesn’t know how. And on paper, Nany & Turbo look like stiff competition. You could argue that Turbo has the most impressive Challenge resume on the cast, but he also seems to be as stubborn as he was on Ride or Dies.

To be honest, I really don’t think these two will have a hard time burying their drama in the past. If there’s any one person that Turbo respects on the show, it’s Nany. She seems to know how to communicate with Turbo, and if the War of the Worlds seasons are any indication, she understands how to navigate language barriers and cultural differences.

Nany seems to be in a great spot this season, but Turbo might not be at his physical peak. A few weeks before entering the competition, he sustained a leg injury that could limit his ability to perform.

This doesn’t look like the type of injury that will allow him to excel in a final, but this is all stars. Many of the players are past their physical prime, but not all. And it only takes one strong team to prevent Nany & Turbo from winning.

I think there’s a huge, unspoken hurdle preventing Nany from getting the win, and it kind of stinks for her. Unless this is explained on the show, Turbo will have a hard time reaching his peak performance. If this holds him back, it will just look like another shortcoming for Nany, because Turbo already has his championship title.
