The season is over, but we’re not done. Did viewers stick around for the first part of the reunion?
The Challenge: Vets & New Threats: Reunion Part 1 was watched by 232,000 live viewers, and it received a 0.08 rating in the 18-49 demo. This is a huge drop of 120,000 viewers compared to episode 19, but the reunion always receives fewer viewers (the 18-49 demo data was not reported for episode 19). It was the 23rd highest-rated cable show of the night.
Compared to last season’s reunion, which aired 11 months ago, this is a pretty big fall. While cable viewership is dropping, a decrease of this magnitude can’t just be explained by cable trends. Maybe if MTV promoted the season on something other than its failing network numbers would have been better for season 41.
