CT & Davis Tell Their Sides of the Inferno 3 Punch Story

What really happened in South Africa in 2006.

CT has finally gotten real about hitting Davis on The Inferno 3.

On a recent episode of Getting Real With Jon & Beth, the Real World: Los Angeles roommates spoke with their Inferno 2 costar CT. They discussed his appearances on many reality shows, but of course, you can’t talk with CT without diving into The Challenge.

Specifically, they dove into the infamous punch on The Inferno 3 that got CT sent home on the first episode. Jon and Beth had spoken with Davis on a previous episode. While Davis holds no ill will over that moment, CT wanted to take the chance to apologize and share his side of the story.

CT set the stage for the incident with a backstory. He claims there was a rumor early in his Challenge career. Apparently, some cast members (he names Veronica) would joke that he was gay because he wasn’t hooking up on the show. This rumor lingered on The Inferno 3 (even though he’d just started his romance with Diem on the previous season).

CT alleges that Davis was getting a little “fresh” and “handsy” by the pool on the night of the punch. According to CT, Davis leaned in, and at that point, CT “knuckled” him on the bone. That started to bubble, and it turned into the black eye we saw on the show.

This is a little different than the story Davis told in his Inferno 3 confessionals. In the first episode, Davis recalled CT asking if he could take a punch. Davis said he could, and then he claims CT punched him — and it was the hardest punch he’d ever felt.

While we still don’t know the exact sequence of events because production didn’t film the punch, we know it happened. CT says he went inside to go to bed, but he claims Kenny tried to make the incident into some type of hate crime. While CT seems to deny that, we all know that the punch (regardless of the motivation) was enough to get him kicked off the show.

Despite his recollection, CT apologized to Davis and claimed he “didn’t mean it.” He also said he didn’t want to fight Davis; if he did Davis wouldn’t have just had a black eye. Still, CT knows Challenge moments can have lasting impacts, and he doesn’t want Davis to think there’s ill will.

For the record: Davis’ recollection on the podcast is very similar to what he said while The Inferno 3 was airing (blog pictured below). He said he was sober during the incident because he wanted to moderate his drinking after the Real World, but he remembers CT drinking a lot. Davis recalls CT fighting with Kenny (which Kenny discussed in his Inferno 3 blog, pictured below). Afterward, CT got more belligerent, but Davis was playing chess by the pool with Abram. Then, CT asked Davis if he was the gay kid. Davis said yes, and CT asked if he could take a punch. That’s when CT threw the punch.

Davis mentioned that CT apologized to his stepsister, but they haven’t seen each other in ages, so he hasn’t received a face-to-face apology.
