A Challenge romance turned two competitors into celebrities — well, at least “celebrity” by the loose definition on Ex on the Beach UK.
Izzy Fairthorne was cast as one of the singles on the show, but UK reality TV veteran Rogan O’Connor showed up as the first ex on the season. This created an awkward environment for Izzy, who’d just started a fast romance with Freddie Powell from Love Is Blind UK.
It didn’t take long for Rogan and Izzy to be forced to have dinner together. Eventually, the two started talking about their “split” after their Vets & New Threats fling.
Izzy expressed that she was embarrassed after she was eliminated from The Challenge, because she saw rumors saying she got involved with Rogan while he was in a relationship. Then, she received backlash for interfering with this alleged relationship, even though she didn’t know he had a girlfriend.
Rogan doubled down on his claim that he had broken up with his girlfriend before leaving for The Challenge. This was immediately before departure, but he told this woman that he was going onto The Challenge as a single man.
So, when Rogan was hooking up with Izzy, he was single and didn’t tell her about his recent breakup. But rumor swirled, and Rogan didn’t really defend Izzy. In his mind, he was a single man.
This left Izzy to deal with the brunt of the backlash — Rogan didn’t even try to explain himself after Izzy was sent home. So, that seemed to be the end of the story until Ex on the Beach.
Rogan claims he can better see the situation from Izzy’s side, and he never really closed the door on the romance after The Challenge. Izzy was sympathetic to his apology, and she wasn’t closed off to the possibility of rekindling things. In her mind, she really wanted an apology, and Rogan gave her one.
We’ll see how far this really goes as Celebrity Ex on the Beach 4 progresses, but the Rogan drama was enough to scare Freddie away.
