The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Tonya Cooley’s sex scandal from The Ruins has been settled out of court. Another chapter closed in the RW/RR Book.
For those of you who don’t know, Tonya filed a sexual assault charge against BMP after The Ruins. She had passed out drunk one and apparently two male cast member stuck a toothbrush in her “lady area.” Production replaced the toothbrush and destroyed all video evidence, but Tonya was informed of the events by another cast member of the event. Initially, she thought her soarness “down there” was from the physical nature of the competitions until she received information of the alleged assault from another cast member.
I’m glad the cast is now behind us. I truly do wish the best for Tonya, and that she is able to receive treatments for her problems (not calling her crazy, but anyone could benefit from counseling after difficult life events).
This was a tricky situation for both Tonya and BMP, and hopefully both parties are able to grow from the experience.

Just FYI, sexual assault is different than a “sex scandal.” It seems criminal that production destroyed all evidence… How is that not actionable?
I just happened to be watching the Ruins recently and I was in shock and horror at the behavior on this show–particularly by the men. MTV should stop airing the Ruins. It makes them, Bananas, Kenny, Evan, the producers, Veronica–all of them are abusive bullies and/or enablers. The ugliness, misogyny, and bullying…MTV looks disgusting. I saw that some of these people were banned from future shows. GOOD. Should be all of them.
