Everyone loves a good underdog story on The Challenge. Someone that is put down by other housemates and manages to rise above the conflict and obtain challenge success. Of course, these stories cannot exist without the villains that start fights within the house. Let’s look at some of the greatest challenge villains.
Emily (Battle of the Seasons, Battle of the Sexes)
Emily was a strong competitor who was able to obtain challenge success quickly by rising to the inner circle on both Battle of the Seasons and Battle of the Sexes. Her strategy for staying in the inner circle: eliminate the threats. Anyone that had potential to out perform her in a challenge had to go. Her most notable victims were Rachel Robinson and Veronica. Despite her challenge success, she chose to eliminate herself from Battle of the Sexes when her boyfriend James was voted off by the guys… and then she never appeared on a challenge again.
The Mean Girls
Veronica (The Gauntlet, The Inferno, The Inferno 2)- After falling victim to Emily’s antics, Veronica sought to eliminate the weaker players on her team- and she wasn’t discrete about it. On The Gauntlet it was Sarah, on The Inferno it was Katie, and on The Inferno 2 it was Tonya. She is best remembered for her topless fight with Katie on The Inferno.
Rachel (The Gauntlet, The Inferno 2)– Rachel was Veronica’s partner in crime, and she helped Veronica to target her enemies. Rachel was known to get loud when she had to, and had no problems egging on fights.
Tina (Battle of the Sexes 2, The Inferno 2, The Duel)- Tina is best remembered for two things: fight with Tonya for two straight seasons, and punching Beth in the face. She’s never been one to bite her tongue, and her sneaky game play earned her a “heavy hitter” title on Cutthroat.
Coral (The Gauntlet, The Inferno)
Perhaps best known for her one-liners, Coral doesn’t really hate many of the people on these shows. There are two major exceptions of course- Trishelle from The Gauntlet and Julie from The Inferno. Her fighting with those two established her as someone to fear in these competitions, and when push comes to shove she is able to perform in challenges.
Beth (Battle of the Seasons, The Inferno 2, The Gauntlet 2, The Duel)
When I think of a challenge villain, Beth is the first to pop into my head. According to Brad, she has “textbook Beth” antics that are known to ruffle feathers. She likes to slip in a controversial comment, and then when controversy arises she’ll deny any involvement. Of course, the rest of the cast doesn’t respect this. Beth has made many enemies and has been on the receiving end of Tina’s punch. Despite the fact that she can stand her own in both arguments and elimination rounds, Beth has yet to win a challenge.
CT (The Inferno, The Inferno 2, The Duel, The Inferno 3, The Gauntlet 3, The Duel 2)
Big, strong, and slightly crazy, CT is not someone you want to irritate. In his early challenges he would relentlessly try to eliminate the weak players on his team to “trim the fat.” But when people would confront him, he was ready to fight. He has been sent home twice for punching people and is best know for his terrifying fight with Adam King on The Duel 2. In the more recent challenges his is slightly more calm, but still a huge threat in competitions.
Wes (Fresh Meat, The Ruins, Fresh Meat 2, Rivals, Battle of the Exes)
In his early years Wes was an underdogs that would yell at his partner Casey for poor performance. After winning The Duel and splitting up with his fiancee Johanna, he returned with a vengeance on The Ruins and sought to get revenge on Kenny who was intimate with Johanna. His ongoing rivalry with Kenny has been going on for year, and his willingness to run his mouth has gotten him eliminated a lot recently. Perhaps he is reaching Beth status. He has become so hated that he is unable to win.
Johnny Bananas (The Gauntlet 3, The Island, The Ruins, Battle of the Exes)
Johnny is a lover and a fighter whose villain status was solidified on The Island after constantly fighting with the girls- especially Kellyanne and Evelyn. He is often the mouth of the Johnny/Kenny/Evan alliance and has been known to talk his way in and out of trouble. As time passes his antics continue, but his challenge record keeps improving. Perhaps he’s doing something right?
Laurel (Fresh Meat 2, Cutthroat, Rivals)
Outgoing and confident, Laurel is the newbie that the veterans ought to fear. She never lost and elimination round and has made it to the end of all of her challenges. Despite this impressive record, she is better known for calling out others…particularly Paula and Big Easy. As malicious as she can be, she does have a soft side that shined through when she talked with CT on Rivals.
Frank (Battle of the Seasons)
There’s something to love about people that are completely unfiltered, but there’s also something to hate. For that reason, Frank has earned himself a spot on this list after only one challenge. He was a good friend to those he cared about, but if you pissed him off he wasn’t afraid to hit below the belt. Perhaps his fighting worked to his advantage- he did win after all.
