Finally news is emerging about the upcoming San Francisco Real World, and it’s not going to be the same show we’ve seen in the past.
Anyone who has been following the production of Real World 29 knows that there have been rumors of a twist. Well, months before the show actually airs, the twist have been revealed to Entertainment Weekly.
I highly recommend you read the full article about The Real World San Francisco, but here’s the major points in the article if you want the Cliff Notes.
Firstly, the show will be rebranded at Real World: Ex-Plosion. Why? Because the cast will be joined by there exes. The initial seven roommates moved in, lived together for a month, and after the first month they were joined by their exes. Perhaps this is an attempt the recreate some of the success from Battle of the Exes, but it certainly is an unexpected twist for those who have been long time fans of the show.
Another new element of the show: the cast will be provided with smart phones. They are able to post content on a closed network visible only to the rest of the cast, friends, family, and exes. This content will be rolled out for the public to see as the show progresses.
Jonathan Murray, co-creator of the series, seems to imply that this is not the direction The Real World is moving toward. Not every future season will be ex-ploded. But he wants to take it on a season-to-season basis and is open to the possibility that there will be different twists in the future.
Also, there’s a hot tub this season. Some things never change.
No word yet on the official premier date.
