Nehemiah Breaks Silence on Dee Nguyen Situation

Nehemiah feels MTV was looking to save face, and Dee was the victim of the backlash.

Once again, the Zach Nichols Podcast is diving into taboo topics from The Challenge’/s history. On episode 81, Nehemiah joined the show as a guest.

Eventually, Zach and co-host Pierre brought up the Dee Nguyen indecent that led to her getting banned from MTV. For those who don’t know, Dee was stuck in the US during the start of the pandemic in 2020. So, she stayed with Wes in Kansas City who was working on a project. Nehemiah was also a part of this, so Dee and Wes met for the first time in early 2020.

Nehemiah confirmed that he never dated Dee, nor did they have a committed relationship, but they did sleep together. Dee had heavily alluded to some type of relationship with Nehemiah in the past, but it had never been confirmed by Nehemiah until now.

In Nehemiah’s opinion, MTV wanted to make an example out of Dee. He noted that The Real World and The Challenge have had cast members who have said some overtly racist things, things that are far more severe than Dee’s comments. Zach echoed this sentiment. He feels Dee’s comments were tone-deaf but not racist.

Nehemiah called MTV’s response “extremely unfair” and he notes that Dee emigrated to Australia from Vietnam. She isn’t an American, but she never displayed any animosity toward racial minorities on the show, while other cast members have.

To add to this, Nehemiah said that Dee was “faded” during this time. It was the start of the pandemic, and there wasn’t much to do other than sit around and party.

It seems that Nehemiah is just the latest person to defend Dee, but he’s certainly not the only one. As we distance ourselves from the incident, more people seem to change the rhetoric around Dee’s ban. While she certainly used some incentive language, it feels like more people are forgiving of her mistakes, but MTV has yet to change its stance.

  1. As a person of color I can honestly say screw MTV for how they handled that situation. Dee really did not deserve that since as you’ve said we’ve had many others that have done/said far worse
