Challenge fans are eagerly awaiting the upcoming 42nd season. We know it’s been filmed, and we know the cast, but where’s the announcement?
According to spoiler source Gamer, it looks like the season announcement was pushed back until July. This means we could be getting a season that premiers in August or early September(assuming it follows a similar timeline to recent flagship + All Stars seasons).

There have also been a few hints that promo may be in the works. Most notably, CT shared Instagram Stories visiting the MTV Paramount studios in New York.
And I know it sucks to have to wait, but objectively, I think this is a good thing. Shows tend to get better viewership in the fall, and having the season air in the summer could negatively impact ratings. I also think Paramount wants to use Big Brother as a promotional tool, because The Challenge and Big Brother attract a similar audience. This timeline allows Challenge promo to overlap with the first few weeks of Big Brother.
Hopefully, we’re just a few weeks away from an announcement, but I’d anticipate six to eight more weeks until the first episode.
I also expect this season to look different than other flagship seasons. Presumably, it’s airing directly on Paramount+, so it could have fewer episodes than Vets & New Threats. We might even get more than one episode on the premier week; All Stars 4 launched with two episodes on Paramount+.
Keep in mind, nothing is official until Paramount makes it official, but it seems we’re getting close to an announcement.
