Challenge: Cutthroat (42)

Which Cutthroat Competitors Should Become Permanent Team Captains?

Who could lead their team to the final?

TJ introduced the Cutthroat’s first format shakeup: Each team needs to pick a captain. And those captains will be “permanent.”

We’ve learned from past seasons, like The Gauntlet 2, that “permanent” likely doesn’t mean irreplaceable. But it does take a special type of person to assume a leadership role that could leave them vulnerable for the whole season. So, who’s up for the task?

Orange Team: CT

The Orange Team has a few super veterans on it, but CT and Bananas stick out as players with multiple wins. This experience is valuable for a leadership role, but Bananas has a much shadier past than CT. In fact, CT assumed an unofficial leadership position on Team UK during War of the Worlds 2; something Tori is quite familiar with, because she was part of that team and nearly won with CT.

But CT isn’t in his best shape this season, and it’s yet to be determined whether this will be detrimental to the Orange Team. Likely, leaders will need to face The Arena if their teams lose. This could be a gentle way for the Orange Team to offload CT under the ruse of valuing his experience.

Second choice: Tori. She seems to be about peace, love, unity, and stalemates this season. She’s already making some decisions for the Orange Team, but we know she’ll put her veterans first. This mentality could earn her enough votes to become captain.

The Grey Team: Chris

It’s a pretty simple decision here: One cast member is a Challenge champion, and it’s Chris. He’s well-liked on his team, and he seems to have a lot of the girls on his side. This makes him stick out as an authoritative voice.

While Cory has the experience, he doesn’t have a Challenge win. He’s likely better off laying low if he wants to run the final, and the captain role won’t serve this objective.

Second choiceSydney. Let’s be honest, she could have won the Vets & New Threats final if she wasn’t anchored to Turbo. Cocky as she may be, she’s a strong player who won’t be scared to shed some of her weaker teammates.

Blue Team: Josh

With only two veterans left, this team is in a tough spot. They’ve placed last in the first four daily challenges, and it doesn’t seem Nelson’s or Cara Maria’s experience is serving them well. Josh is an eager competitor, and he seems desperate to break his streak of bad luck. If that means taking the leadership position, then he’d be willing to do it.

Based on episode 4, it doesn’t really seem the veterans are up for the task of running their team. They couldn’t control their own bodies during Infiltration Dive; how could they be expected to lead four more people?

Second choiceAnna Leigh. Going into episode 4, Anna Leigh felt like an outsider on the Blue Team. But she won the intro race, which made her the first captain, and she’s the only Blue Team member to win anything this season after defeating Nurys in I’ve Got You Pegged.
