Rivals 3: Top Moments From Episode 3

A new episode of The Challenge. Which key Challenge element is missing?

1. Smashley Returns

The cast goes to the club, and per usual they are the only ones there because it’s a Tuesday night. Ashley is feeling isolated because everyone else already has friends. She downs a few shots, and then sees Nicole leave to go somewhere with Jamie. That’s her boo, so she freaks out. Camila and Cory try to console her and tell her nothing happened, but she knows that’s a lie. Then Nicole enters the bathroom where Smashley is crying, and Ashley tells her to leave and pee her pants. Eventually Cory talks her off a ledge, and then she goes home and acts like nothing happened.

2. The Newbies

Due to Leroy and Averey leaving, a new team is brought in. It’s Nelson and Amanda from Are You the One? 3! The whole cast is upset because we have new competitors, but confused because they have no idea who they are.

3. Cleaning Up

This week’s challenge is called Dirty Laundry. The goal is to grind on a pole covered in soap until numbers are revealed. Then, they must hang up t-shirts on a clothesline with the corresponding numbers. The cast is split into three heats, with Nate & Christina, Wes & Nany, and Tony & Camila winning their heats. Nelson & Amanda, Thomas & Simone, and Johnny & Jessica come in last in their hear. Thomas & Simone appear to have done the worst, but rather than making them losers TJ has a surprise in store.

4. A Surprising Fiesta

TJ surprises the cast and tells them Nelson & Amanda get to go out to dinner and take two teams with them. Then, there will be a house party the next night instead of an elimination. The whole cast is suspicious and no one wants to go to dinner. However, Nelson & Amanda have to choose, so they take Bananas & Sarah and Thomas & Simone. Surprisingly, there is no twist. The three teams drink, eat, laugh, and have a merry time. There is some game talk, and Bananas made fun of Wes, but nothing unusual.

5. Coming In With a Bang

The diners get home, and Johnny R. tries to be nice to Amanda by asking which AYTO season she was on. Amanda thinks Johnny is being fake, because obviously he doesn’t care, and then proceeds to call out a line of people. Tony stands up for his friend Johnny, so Amanda insults Tony and tells him he hopes to see him in the next “Duel or Jungle or whatever.” Then Camila gets involved, so Nelson tries to calm Amanda down. However, the damage is done and there’s a bigger target on Nelson & Amanda’s backs.

  1. The editing has been so bad this season. First episode was 90mins and featured no elimination round, second episode had no challenge, and third episode once again no elimination round. Also what was the point of the “dirty laundry” challenge if no winners/losers were announced? This season is turning out to be a bigger train wreck than Bloodlines. Are MTV purposely trying to kill the show off?
