“Teen Mom” couple Cory Wharton and Taylor Selfridge have called it quits after nine years. According to an article byPeople, Cory shared the news on Instagram yesterday, October 8.
In his Instagram Stories, Cory painfully acknowledged the split and apologized to Taylor for the relationship not working out. He also thanked her for the memories and said he’d continue showing up for his daughters.
Taylor also confirmed the breakup in her Instagram Stories, though her telling was a bit more direct.
She claims that she was sick of not getting basic respect, so she left. She feels most people could tell she hadn’t been in a great spot over the past two years.
Cory and Taylor met in 2017 while filming Ex on the Beach and share two kids, Mila and Maya. Before leaving to film Cutthroat, Cory and Taylor seemed to be broken up. When episodes started airing, Cory revealed the relationship struggles. He admitted they were living in the same house but sleeping in different beds.
However, Cory and Taylor seemed to be in a better place while caring for Maya, who suffered a scary health episode in early 2026, which led to Cory’s departure from Cutthroat. This reunion didn’t last long, because Taylor expressed her surprise when she had to learn about Cory and Izzy’s semi-showmance with viewers, only learning about some details as Cutthroat episodes aired.
For most people who have followed the couple, Taylor is correct; the breakup isn’t a surprise. But Cory has shared his biggest fear: Taylor will leave LA with his daughters. He knows Taylor doesn’t want to live in LA, so this would put her in a tough spot.
Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that tough decision. We know Cory can successfully co-parent, as he maintained a good relationship with Cheyenne to help raise Ryder and cash Teen Mom checks. But his breakup with Taylor hasn’t been off to the most cordial start. Taylor shared that Cory announced the split on social media without telling her.
