On episode 7 of Cutthroat, we saw Cory leave the competition to go home and be with his daughter, Maya, who was in the hospital (and has thankfully been recovering). He got a quick call from his on-again, off-again girlfriend Taylor, who’s also Maya’s mother. She seemed very direct and quick on the call, but given the magnitude of the situation, this doesn’t seem unusual.
Apparently, Taylor had spoken with Cory about one day earlier. At that point, Maya had been admitted to the hospital, and Taylor wanted Cory to be informed.
For context, cast members generally get one short phone call per week. When something serious is going on at home, they may receive more communication — and Maya’s health situation likely allowed Taylor and Cory to have more frequent calls.
During that earlier call, Cory confessed he was involved in a flirty situation with another girl. Or, as Taylor recalls, he said a girl was “pressing up on him.” Immediately, she knew it was either Izzy or Adrienne. According to her, Cory has two types, and those girls fit the mold. And no, Spoiler accounts did not spill this information to Taylor.
Taylor confesses she was super irritated because she was sitting in the emergency room while Cory was out on The Challenge. But we have to remember, these two weren’t on the best terms when Cutthroat started filming. Earlier in the season, Cory revealed he was living with Taylor, but he felt like they weren’t in a relationship.
So, Taylor reached out to Cheyenne, who mentioned she knew a little bit about Cory and Izzy’s situation and that the show would probably air this showmance. At this point, all Taylor knew was that a girl was “pressing up” on Cory, and he shot it down (allegedly).
Later, (presumably once Cory was back in the US) Taylor spoke with Cory about his flirtmance with Izzy. According to Taylor, Cory didn’t add much context. He said he shut down any romance, and he mostly blamed Izzy for the situation. Now, having seen some of the footage, Taylor can see that Cory played a bigger role than he led her to believe.
Taylor also had no clue that Cory and Izzy’s situation lasted the entire time he was filming Cutthroat. She believed it was a one-time interaction that was shut down, not a weeks-long fling.
In reality, Taylor didn’t have much more context than the viewers. She watched along with us, and she didn’t have a complete picture until the episodes aired.
