Challenge: Spies, Lies & Allies

Why Was Lauren Coogan Removed From Spies, Lies & Allies?

Why was Lauren Coogan deactivated from Spies, Lies & Allies

On the second episode of Spies, Lies, and Allies we saw a second replacement get brought in. Josh’s “partner” was deactivated, but no information was given.

This seems to be the new trend on The Challenge, and Lauren’s story will be swept under the rug. She did tweet recently (before the episode) stating she had felt mentally manipulated by two networks and her mental health suffered.

Of course, MTV is one of those networks. On Instagram she stated she was “accused of saying” something, then she was removed from the house. She said MTV Legal couldn’t have had time to review the footage, so she was removed without real evidence.

She’s also said she needed counseling and therapy after this incident, so it was quite traumatic for her. In her words, she was “gaslit” because there is no evidence of the alleged comment.

So what happened? We don’t know for sure. However, Lauren is rumored to have made a racially-insensitive comment to Aneesa during a party. MTV has certainly cracked down on their tolerance for such comments. Years ago, Aneesa was paired with Robin on Rivals due to racially-insensitive comments make on The Duel.

Is there truth to the statements? We’ll never know. All we have is Lauren’s recollection. As a viewer who just saw Lauren disappear, I do see a production team that would withhold information and gaslight. I don’t watch the show to support racist behavior, but I also don’t expect everyone to be a role model. I don’t want to watch people just evaporate from my screen, but production isn’t going to air anything that hurts their advertiser relationships.

UPDATE: Corey L. has accused Lauren of making statements toward him about making a storyline surrounding being gay and black on The Challenge. He also alludes to the rumor of the Aneesa comments.
