In a not-so-surprising turn of events, The Challenge is officially renewed for its 38th season. But we knew this because the cast list is already released. The big news is that the show is renewed for season 39, meaning we will have at least one season after 38.

But, the show did perform well in the 18-34 demographic. Keep in mind, all shows on MTV are struggling. The Challenge is doing better than shows like Jersey Shore, Teen Mom, and Ridiculousness.
Perhaps the least surprising note from this, the show has been aired in over 190 countries. This means international representation is an important part of its success and will continue to be part of the show moving forward.
The real question: Will The Challenge get to season 40? If I had to guess, I’d say it’s very likely. The show is still doing relatively well, and other countries might be watching it now too. Season 40 is a huge milestone for the series, even though it’s already accumulated more seasons when you include spin-offs.
Hopefully, we’ll see some shake-ups on the series. Fans seem to be itching for the show to move in a different direction. Season 38 showed some promise, but we’d be very disappointed if season 40 wasn’t monumental.
